RAK Transport Authority was established in April 2007 by virtue of Royal Decree of 2007, issued by H.H. Shaikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi (may God rest his soul) and under the auspices of H.H. Shaikh Saoud Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah then. The developmental enlightening vision and economical ambitions of his highness in addition to his follow up on every little detail in the upswing march as well as his insight to reach first-rate quality transportation, had their obvious impact on establishment and adoption of RAK Transport Authority. We see today that RAK Transport Authority is following the league of authorities in other emirate and is rising to high standard in transportation service.
Al Hamra Taxi was founded in January 2008 in partnership with the Cars Taxi with a total of 600 vehicles operating in the Al Hamra. Passenger transport service was provided by Al Hamra Taxi vehicles exclusively at the airport in Ras Al Khaimah.

The authority has continuously sought to establish and develop Al Hamra Buses and that is based on its belief in the necessity of providing all transportations so the authority has partnered with one of the companies in public transportation and has sought to provide top rated buses so that transportation remain in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah as an application to authority logo.
