Export procedure

Steps for shippers

To export freight out of RAK International Airport, the shipper should:

  • Obtain an export code from RAK Customs office
  • Fill in the Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (provided by the export office)
  • Complete customs formalities - via an authorised clearing agent
  • Provide a copy of the invoice to prove the value to customs
  • The air waybill is held by the handling agent

Other requirements

Documents vary by cargo type:

  • General Cargo: invoice & packing list
  • Live Animal Cargo: import permit from MOCCAE
  • Perishable Cargo: Ministry of Agriculture certificate
  • Valuable Cargo: invoice & insurance policy
  • Unaccompanied Baggage: passport copy & declaration of value
  • Human Remains: death & embalming certificates, police & consulate clearance, cancelled passport, ticket details
Importing freight

Import procedure

Clearing imports

To clear an import freight at RAK International Airport:

  • Clear the shipment through an authorised agent
  • Obtain an Importer Code & Customs Clearance ID Card from RAK Customs Main Office

Required documents

The Customs Department requires:

  • General Cargo: original invoice, packing list & certificate of origin
  • Live Animal Cargo: import permit from MOCCAE
  • Perishable Cargo: health certificate, certificate of origin, original invoice & packing list
